The UN has documented more than 1,500 grave violations against children in the region, while more than 8,400 schools were rendered inaccessible in 2025 alone. Despite these challenges, government-led reforms in the three countries have shown positive results, including Niger's birth registration rate rising to 79 percent in 2024, up from 62 percent in 2023.
