Understanding Responsibilities When Importing, Compounding and Supplying Unapproved Peptide Products
TGA has published a safety advisory warning of rising import, supply, compounding and advertising of unapproved peptide products in Australia. Products containing BPC-157, GHK-Cu, TB-500, retatrutide, and CJC-1295 are specifically identified as unapproved goods not evaluated for safety, quality, or effectiveness. The TGA states it is actively monitoring this issue from both safety and law enforcement perspectives and reminds affected parties of their obligations under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.
ASIC Launches Free Retirement Planning Tools on Moneysmart Website
ASIC has launched free retirement planning tools and resources on the Moneysmart website to help Australians plan for retirement. The Retirement Hub includes a Retirement Planner calculator, superannuation balance calculators, and Age Pension eligibility tools. Research shows 48% of Australians aged 50-66 worry they will run out of money in retirement, while only 18% have a clear retirement plan in place.
Viva Energy Reassesses Accounting Approach After ASIC Review Resulting in $25M Impairment
ASIC reviewed Viva Energy Group Limited's financial report for the year ended 31 December 2024 and raised concerns about its approach to impairment testing of convenience retail sites under AASB 136. ASIC found that Viva Energy improperly assessed some sites as a group (Shell Card cash-generating unit) rather than individually. Viva Energy revised its approach and recognised $25 million of the total $558.8 million impairment expense as attributable to this change in accounting judgement for the year ended 31 December 2025. ASIC reminded preparers that assets must be tested for impairment at individual asset level where possible.
Bowser Busters Compliance Blitz on NSW Petrol Stations
NSW Fair Trading's Bowser Busters fuel price compliance program has conducted over 2,300 field inspections and re-inspections covering approximately 90% of NSW since March 18, 2026, issuing over 140 Penalty Infringement Notices. Over 90 PINs were issued by field inspectors for price mismatches, failures to comply with information requirements, and unregistered service stations, while Bowser Busters-supported inspectors issued an additional 57 PINs including 56 for price mismatching. Penalties include on-the-spot fines of $1,100 and court penalties up to $110,000.
Public Health (Tobacco and Other Products) Regulations 2024
The Australian Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has issued the Public Health (Tobacco and Other Products) Regulations 2024, a comprehensive legislative instrument governing tobacco products. The regulations establish requirements for retail packaging, permitted tobacco advertisements, prescribed amounts for personal possession, and point-of-sale advertising rules. The instrument is authorized under the Public Health (Tobacco and Other Products) Act 2023 and is currently in force.
National Environment Protection Measures (Implementation) Regulations 1999
DCCEEW publishes the consolidated National Environment Protection Measures (Implementation) Regulations 1999 (F2026C00304). The regulations, authorised by the NEPM (Implementation) Act 1998, establish the framework for accreditation of environmental auditors, define matters of national environmental interest, set out reviewable decisions, and require annual reporting by the administering body.
Agri-Vet Chemicals Code Regulations 1995 (Superseded Version, 01 Mar 2016 - 31 May 2016)
The Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry published a superseded version of the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Regulations 1995, valid from 1 March 2016 to 31 May 2016. The instrument was backcaptured in accordance with Section 36 of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003. A citation change is noted. Former Financial Adviser Rhys Reilly Banned 10 Years, Conexus Group AFS Licence Suspended
ASIC banned former financial adviser Rhys James Rolls Reilly for 10 years and suspended Conexus Group Pty Ltd's AFS licence until 31 July 2026. ASIC found Reilly accepted $100,000 in conflicted remuneration, made false or misleading statements to clients, and recommended unsuitable investments in First Guardian and Shield Master Funds. The enforcement actions took effect 8 April 2026.
Shane Monte Silva Banned Five Years Over Advice Failures
ASIC banned former financial adviser Shane Monte Silva from the financial services industry for five years for failing to act in clients' best interests. Between July and August 2023, while at FSGA (in liquidation), he advised five clients to switch superannuation funds to high-risk schemes including Shield and First Guardian. The banning order took effect from 11 December 2025.
ASIC Suspends AFS Licence of Oscar Oliver Capital Ltd for Four Months
ASIC suspended the AFS licence of Oscar Oliver Capital Ltd for a period of four months until 31 July 2026. The suspension was imposed under s915B(3)(a) of the Corporations Act 2001 after ASIC found the company had ceased carrying on its financial services business since 2 July 2023. The suspension has been recorded on ASIC's Professional Registers.
