DOJ Approves DOE Voluntary DPA Plans of Action
The DOJ Antitrust Division published notice that Acting Assistant Attorney General found DOE's proposed Plans of Action under section 708 of the Defense Production Act of 1950 may become effective. The finding concludes that the national defense purposes may not reasonably be achieved through plans with less anticompetitive effects or without any plans of action. This clears the way for DOE to implement voluntary agreements with private industry participants, who gain antitrust law defenses when acting within the scope of approved plans of action.

Franklin v. Carrington Mortgage Services LLC — Appeal Dismissed
The Georgia Court of Appeals dismissed Ricky R. Franklin's direct appeal from an October 2025 trial court order awarding $14,354.50 in attorney fees to defendants Carrington Mortgage Services LLC and Wilmington Savings Fund Society FSB under OCGA § 9-15-14(b). The court held it lacked jurisdiction because appeals from attorney-fee awards require an application for discretionary review under OCGA § 5-6-35(a)(10), which Franklin failed to file, and noncompliance with the discretionary appeals procedure is fatal to appellate jurisdiction.
Nancy Pierce Jo Jenkins v. Michelle Jenkins - Discretionary Appeal Denied
The Court of Appeals of Georgia denied a discretionary application for appeal filed by Nancy Pierce Jo Jenkins against Michelle Jenkins. The case, bearing Docket Number A26D0443 and originating from lower court LC Number 24CV002090, was denied on April 23, 2026. This disposition represents a procedural court ruling that affirms the lower court's proceedings without further appeal rights.
Usman Mohsin v. State, Appeal Dismissed for Late Filing
The Court of Appeals of Georgia dismissed appeal A26A1418 filed by Usman Mohsin against the State. The appellant failed to file an enumeration of errors and brief within the required 20-day period under Court of Appeals Rule 23(a), and failed to comply with a court order directing compliance by April 10, 2026. The appeal was deemed abandoned and dismissed pursuant to Court of Appeals Rules 7 and 23(a).
Saadi Orabi v. Abe Malla - Appeal Dismissed
The Court of Appeals of Georgia dismissed appeal case A26A1131, Saadi Orabi v. Abe Malla, as abandoned on April 23, 2026. The appellant failed to comply with the Court's notice of docketing and Court of Appeals Rule 23(a) regarding filing an enumeration of errors and brief within twenty days. On February 11, 2026, the Court ordered the appellant to file these documents by February 20, 2026, but no filing was received as of the order date.
Knowles v. Knowles - Emergency Motion for Stay Denied
The Court of Appeals of Georgia denied Jeremy Knowles's pro se emergency motion seeking a stay of enforcement of a trial court's final order pending appellate review. The court found that although his application for discretionary appeal was granted on March 10, 2026, he failed to file a stamped notice of appeal in DeKalb County Superior Court within the required ten-day period, meaning no supersedeas existed to automatically stay enforcement. The court declined to exercise its limited emergency powers under Court of Appeals Rule 40(b) to grant discretionary relief.
Ergin Tek v. Holly Park Square Apartments, LLC: Lien Dismissed
The Georgia Court of Appeals dismissed Ergin Tek's appeal in Case No. A26A1636 on April 23, 2026, for lack of jurisdiction. The dismissal stems from the underlying mechanic's lien case remaining pending below while damages await determination. Tek failed to comply with interlocutory appeal procedures, which required obtaining a certificate of immediate review from the trial court before pursuing the direct appeal.
Burton v. State, Georgia Appeals, Dismissed
The Court of Appeals of Georgia dismissed Case No. A26A1754, Andre Latrell Burton v. The State, for lack of jurisdiction. Burton had pled guilty in 2017 to kidnapping with bodily injury and other crimes, then filed a 2024 motion to set aside his sentence. The trial court denied that motion on November 5, 2025, but Burton did not file his notice of appeal until March 2, 2026 — approximately four months after the trial court's order and well beyond the statutory 30-day window under OCGA § 5-6-38(a).
Willie Clarence Lee Jr. v. State Dismissed
The Georgia Court of Appeals dismissed Willie Clarence Lee Jr.'s appeal because his notice of appeal was filed 34 days after the trial court's December 4, 2025 order, exceeding the 30-day statutory deadline under OCGA § 5-6-38(a). The court held that timely filing of a notice of appeal is an absolute jurisdictional requirement. Lee was convicted in 2014 of two counts of rape, two counts of statutory rape, and four counts of child molestation; his conviction was previously affirmed in 2019. The dismissal leaves the underlying conviction and trial court order undisturbed.
Marquez Hutchinson v. Georgia Department of Human Services, Ex. Rel., Jordan Hutchinson
The Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia denied the discretionary application for appeal in Case No. A26D0435 on April 23, 2026. The underlying case (LC Number 25CS000847) involved Marquez Hutchinson versus the Georgia Department of Human Services, on the relation of Jordan Hutchinson. No further appeal rights are specified in this procedural order.
Allied Property Group v. Perrin Oaks HOA - Interlocutory Application Dismissed
Allied Property Group, LLC's interlocutory appeal application was dismissed as untimely by the Court of Appeals of Georgia. The trial court had granted Allied a certificate of immediate review on March 17, 2026, but Allied did not file its application until March 31, 2026—four days past the March 27, 2026 deadline prescribed by OCGA § 5-6-34(b). The court held that the statutory requirements for interlocutory review are jurisdictional, and non-compliance deprives the appellate court of authority to hear the application.
