Latvia Court Confiscates €230k, Luxury Car and Real Estate in EPPO Procurement Fraud Case
Riga City Court ordered the confiscation of a luxury vehicle, real estate in central Riga, and €230,000 in bank accounts under a non-conviction-based procedure, as part of an EPPO investigation into suspected procurement fraud at Daugavpils University involving European Social Fund financing. The fraud involved rigging of public procurement specifications and inflating costs, causing €306,957.24 in damage to the EU budget and €54,168.92 to the Latvian state budget. The pre-trial investigation remains ongoing and all persons concerned are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
COSALFA 52 Meets in Guyana, Advancing Foot-and-Mouth Disease Eradication
The 52nd Ordinary Meeting of COSALFA opened in Georgetown, Guyana on April 22, 2026, convening delegates from member countries, international organizations, and private sector representatives to advance the Region's progress toward eradicating foot-and-mouth disease.
