SEC Order Permitting Broker-Dealers to Pledge Eligible Equity Collateral

The SEC issued an exemptive order under Section 36 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 designating a new category of permissible collateral for broker-dealers borrowing fully-paid or excess margin equity securities from institutional investors. The order permits broker-dealers to pledge Eligible Equity Collateral consisting of Russell 1000 and/or S&P 500 equity securities, provided they meet specified concentration and diversification standards.
