RALEIGH Mar 26, 2026 Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will honor Mooresville Fire Chief Curt Deaton for his decades of dedicated service and leadership during an event Friday, March 27. Commissioner Causey will present the Commissioner’s Award during the chief’s retirement celebration at 1p.m.
Starting as a volunteer, Deaton rose to full-time firefighter in 1996 and then chief in 2012 serving Mooresville for 30 years. Fellow firefighters elected Deaton president of the North Carolina State Firefighters Association and the Western North Carolina Association of Firefighters during his tenure.
