The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) advises the public that there will be no garbage collection on Good Friday, April 03, 2026. The landfills in Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman will also be closed on this public holiday.

Residential garbage collections will resume in previously uncollected areas on Saturday, April 4, 2026. DEH urges residents to adequately secure their garbage in anticipation of this slight delay in collection services.

All landfills will reopen on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Operations in the George Town landfill will close at 1:00 PM on Easter Monday, April 6, 2026. The 24-hour drop off site at the entrance of the George Town Landfill will, however, remain open to facilitate the disposal of small quantities of household waste. Meanwhile, the Cayman Brac and Little Cayman landfills will close at 4:00 PM as normal.

The public is also advised that the Islands Recycling facility for derelict vehicles and bulk loads of scrap metal will be closed on Good Friday and will re-open on Saturday, April 4, 2026 until 1:00 PM. They will also be closed on Easter Monday and will resume activities on Tuesday, April 07, 2026.

The management and staff of the DEH wish everyone a blessed Easter and seek your understanding for any inconveniences caused by this closure.
