George Dixon Park Redevelopment Enters Final Phase

As part of its commitment to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle for all, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage is pleased to announce the start of construction for the final phase of the George Dixon Community Park redevelopment project. On Thursday, 26 March, the Ministry broke ground to begin the construction of a multi-sport court and a walking and riding track.
This community redevelopment project, which was started in 2025, is designed to enhance recreational opportunities, encourage positive youth engagement, and create a vibrant gathering space for residents and families of East End. The enhancements feature a range of new amenities for people of all ages.
Improvements include:
- A full-size basketball court
- Dedicated pickleball courts
- Five-A-Side football court
- A Bocce court
- Full Canopy lighting
- Cooling fans
- A walking and cycling track
- Shaded cabanas and seating areas Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage, Hon. Isaac Rankine shared, “The upgraded park will provide a safe and inclusive recreational space for residents while promoting stronger community connections and improving the overall quality of life.” He added, “I am grateful to Edgewater Development Ltd. for partnering with us to bring this project to life.
