Houston Operation Seizes 12,000 Counterfeit Sports Items Worth $1.95M

HSI Houston, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Houston Police Department seized 12,000 suspected counterfeit sports items with an estimated MSRP of $1.95 million during an April 2 operation targeting a Southwest Houston business. The enforcement was part of Operation Team Player, a nationwide multiagency initiative coordinated through the IPR Center to combat counterfeit merchandise sales. Last year, over 276,392 counterfeit sports items valued at $33.4 million MSRP were seized nationwide.

Darren Brown v. State of Tennessee - Coram Nobis Appeal

The Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the summary denial of Darren Brown's petition for writ of error coram nobis. Brown sought relief from his 2006 first-degree murder conviction (life sentence) claiming the prosecution failed to disclose exculpatory evidence. The court rejected his equitable tolling arguments and affirmed the coram nobis court's determination that the petition was time-barred and the evidence was not newly discovered.

State v. Kawashima - Extraordinary Writ Denied

The Hawaii Supreme Court denied the State of Hawaiʻi's petition for extraordinary writ challenging a trial court's exclusion of witness Manuel Thomas. The court upheld the lower court's ruling that the State violated Rule 16(b)(1)(vii) of the Hawaiʻi Rules of Penal Procedure by failing to provide witness availability information and serve a subpoena by the February 26, 2026 deadline. The State had multiple opportunities since September 30, 2025, to serve Thomas at court hearings.

Stipulated Dismissal of Appeal in Mortgage Foreclosure Dispute

The Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals approved a stipulated dismissal with prejudice in case CAAP-25-0000813. Wilmington Savings Fund Society, FSB and defendant Laura Taguiped stipulated to dismiss the mortgage-related appeal. Each party bears their own fees and costs.

FERC's Office of Energy Market Regulation issued a delegated order accepting and rejecting as moot tariff records filed by Black Hills/Kansas Gas Utility Company, LLC under docket PR26-19. The original filing was submitted 12/02/2025 and amended on 02/26/2026 to reflect Tax Adjustment Rider changes. FERC accepted the tariff records for changes to the rider and rejected portions as moot.
