PennDOT Announces Proposal to Replace Pipe under Mercer Pike in Union Township, Crawford County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to view the plans for a project to replace the pipe under Mercer Pike (Route 2003) in Union Township, Crawford County.
The pipe for a tributary of French Creek is located under Mercer Pike between the intersection with Wilson Chutes Road (Route 2008) and the intersection with Krider Road (Route 3025).
The Mercer Pike Pipe Replacement project will include removal of the existing steel pipe that has reached its end of life and placing a new concrete pipe, repairing and paving the roadway, and updating the guide rail.
Work is expected to occur during the 2026 construction season.
A detour is proposed during construction and is expected to be in place for approximately one month. The proposed 8-mile detour route will be posted using Wilson Shute Road, Route 322, Linden Street, Route 6, and Kennedy Hill Road (SR 3025). Additionally, some work will be completed with lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.
