US 422 Bridge Repair, Lane Restrictions Across Berks, Lehigh, Monroe Counties, April 20-24
PennDOT District 5 announces scheduled lane restrictions and maintenance work across Berks, Lehigh, and Monroe Counties from April 20-24, 2026. Work includes bridge repairs on US 422 between Penn Street and Interstate 176, sweeping on PA 61, pothole patching, drainage work on PA 534, and crack sealing on PA 390 and I-80. Restrictions are daytime only, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM depending on location, with flagging operations at certain sites.
PennDOT Proposes Pipe Replacement on Mercer Pike in Union Township, Crawford County
PennDOT announced a proposal to replace an end-of-life steel pipe under Mercer Pike (Route 2003) in Union Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. The project includes placing a new concrete pipe, repairing and paving the roadway, and updating guide rail. An approximately 8-mile detour is proposed for one month during construction. PennDOT is seeking public input on the project and its potential effect on Cultural Resources under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
Jacksonville Road Construction Resumes April 20
PennDOT announces that construction on the Jacksonville Road betterment project will resume on Monday, April 20, 2026. The $8.6 million project involves reconstructing and widening Route 26 between I-80 interchanges 161 and 163, with grading, paving, and drainage work scheduled through fall 2026. Flaggers will control traffic during daylight hours, and drivers should expect delays.
Pipe Replacement Project Begins at I-180/Route 54 Park and Ride in Northumberland County
PA DOT announces a pipe replacement project at the I-180/Route 54 interchange Park and Ride in Northumberland County. The Park and Ride will be closed from April 17 at 5:00 PM through April 27 at 6:00 AM while the contractor excavates, installs new pipe, backfills, and resurfaces. Cleveland Brothers Road will also experience two short-term closures during this period. Prime contractor Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is performing this $3.2 million project with completion anticipated in May 2026.
Road Closure Updates Due to Downed Trees and Utilities in North Central Pennsylvania Counties
PennDOT District 3 issued road condition updates for north central Pennsylvania following storm damage. Three roads are closed in Bradford, Lycoming, and Sullivan counties due to downed trees affecting utilities. One previously closed road in Lycoming County (Route 2022) has reopened.
