Watauga County Intersection Realignment, Pavement Markings, Lane Closure
NCDOT announced that a contractor will complete a Watauga County intersection realignment project by installing permanent pavement markings at the southern intersection of Old Shulls Mill Road and N.C. 105. Temporary lane closures or narrowed lanes may occur on both roads from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, weather permitting. This work is one of the final steps to finish realigning Old Shulls Mill Road to meet N.C. 105 at a 90-degree angle, improving sight distance for drivers.
Trinity Road Overnight Closure for Construction
NCDOT announced a one-night closure of Trinity Road in Raleigh from Blue Ridge Road to Thornberry Street, scheduled for Sunday from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The closure is for construction work. Motorists are advised to use Youth Center Drive and Hillsborough Street, or Wade Avenue and Edwards Mill Road as detour routes.
Forsyth County Road Closure, April 24-28, Rail Work
N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance crews and Yadkin Valley Railroad will close a section of Jefferson Church Road in Forsyth County from April 24 at 8 a.m. through April 28 at 5 p.m. to remove and replace the railroad crossing and repave asphalt. The closure affects the road segment between Mooreland Drive and Trolley Lane. A signed detour will be in place to direct traffic around the closure.
Western Boulevard Closed Tonight at I-440 Beltline Interchange
NCDOT contractors will close Western Boulevard in both directions at its interchange with Interstate 440 in Raleigh on Friday night from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. All four ramps at the interchange will also be closed during this time. Drivers are advised to use Hillsborough Street or Melbourne Road interchanges as detour routes and should allow extra travel time.
Nightly Closure for Highway Ramp in Waynesville Upcoming
NCDOT announces a contractor will close the U.S. 19 ramp to U.S. 23/74 for four consecutive nights starting Monday, April 20, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. A marked detour will route drivers via U.S. 276 South to U.S. 23/74 East. The closures are part of a $42.5 million project to replace parallel bridges on U.S. 23/74 over Richland Creek and the U.S. 19 bridge connection, with completion scheduled for spring 2028.
