Description

North Tyneside Council requires the annual renewal of TheMusicLicence, issued by PPL PRS Ltd, which grants the legal right to play recorded music in public or on its premises. This licence is mandatory under UK Copyright Law, as PPL PRS Ltd holds the exclusive rights to collect royalties on behalf of performers and rights‑holders. The renewal ensures continued lawful use of music across the authority's estate, including offices, public‑facing environments, and operational facilities.

The requirement covers a 12‑month licence period, enabling the authority to use recorded music for background ambience, staff welfare areas, public waiting spaces, events, and other permitted uses under the terms of TheMusicLicence.

As PPL PRS Ltd is the sole provider of this statutory licence, the contract is awarded directly on the basis of exclusive rights.
