Methods and Systems for High-Fidelity ZZ-Rotation of Qubits
Summary
The USPTO published patent application US20260094037A1 for a method and system performing high-fidelity ZZ-rotation quantum gates on two qubits. The invention involves applying rotation pulses and echo pulses with specific phases and amplitudes to control detuning and unwanted rotations. The application was filed September 29, 2025, and names Ilya Gurwich, Itsik Cohen, Ron Melcer, and Shlomi Kotler as inventors.
What changed
This patent application discloses a method for performing ZZ-rotation quantum gates on two qubits with XX coupling and corresponding resonance frequencies. The method applies rotation pulses with distinct driving frequencies and echo pulses that commute with the Pauli-ZZ operator, controlling unwanted XX+θ and XY−θ rotations. The CPC classifications are G06N 10/20 and G06N 10/40, indicating classification within quantum computing technologies.
As this is a published patent application rather than a granted patent, there are no immediate compliance obligations or deadlines for third parties. Technology companies developing quantum computing hardware or control systems may wish to review the claims to assess potential patent infringement risks or to understand competing approaches to qubit gate operations. The application does not yet confer enforceable rights; it merely establishes a priority date of September 29, 2025.

Abstract
A method for performing a ZZ-rotation quantum gate acting on two qubits having an XX coupling and corresponding resonance frequencies. The method includes applying twice the following pulses: rotation pulses, and echo pulses. In each application of pulses, to each of the two qubits, a corresponding rotation pulse is applied. The rotation pulse has a corresponding phase, has a corresponding amplitude, and has a driving frequency ω{circumflex over ( )}((i)) distinct from each of the resonance frequencies, so that each of the two qubits is having a corresponding detuning Δ0,1{circumflex over ( )}((i)). The echo pulse is commuting with a Pauli-ZZ operator associated with the two qubits. The echo pulse is applied so as to control a magnitude of any one of: XX+θ(Δ0{circumflex over ( )}((i)) Δ1{circumflex over ( )}((i)))·YY rotation, and XY−θ(Δ0{circumflex over ( )}((i)) Δ_1{circumflex over ( )}((i)))·YX rotation. In each application of pulses, the echo pulse is applied after the rotation pulse.
