Effect of Myopia-Control Contact Lenses in New Zealand Chinese Children
Summary
NIH registered Phase 3 clinical trial NCT07535749 evaluating myopia progression control using MiSight 1 Day (CooperVision) and Abiliti 1-Day (Johnson & Johnson VisionCare) contact lenses in New Zealand Chinese children. The 6-month randomized controlled paired-eye study will enroll participants at Auckland Myopia Clinic with assessments at baseline, 2 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months.
What changed
NIH registered a new Phase 3 clinical trial on ClinicalTrials.gov studying myopia progression control in New Zealand Chinese children. The randomized controlled paired-eye comparison will evaluate two myopia-control contact lenses — MiSight 1 Day (CooperVision) and Abiliti 1-Day (Johnson & Johnson VisionCare) — over a 6-month period with assessments at baseline, 2 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months at Auckland Myopia Clinic.
Healthcare providers and clinical investigators involved in pediatric myopia research should note this trial for awareness. The study does not create new compliance obligations but adds to the body of evidence on myopia control interventions. Sponsors of contact lens products or pediatric eye health programs may find this relevant for research planning and competitive intelligence.

The Effect of Myopia-Control Contact Lenses in New Zealand Chinese Children
Phase 3 NCT07535749 Kind: PHASE3 Apr 17, 2026
Abstract
The study will employ a randomized, controlled, investigator-masked paired-eye comparison design to evaluate the effects of two myopia-control contact lenses-MiSight 1 Day and Abiliti 1-Day-in New Zealand Chinese children.
The study duration will be 6 months, with assessments conducted at baseline, 2 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months.
The clinical research will be conducted at the Auckland Myopia Clinic (New Zealand) and will follow a standard clinical routine for children with early myopia, the only difference being the randomizing of the MiSight and Abiliti contact lenses between the two eyes of the participants.
Conditions: Myopia Progression
Interventions: MiSight Contact Lenses (CooperVision), Albiliti 1-Day (Johnson and Johnson, VisionCare)
