Summary

The North Carolina Respiratory Care Board announces a public hearing on September 17, 2025, to receive comments on the permanent adoption of proposed Rule 21 NCAC 61.0206, which establishes the process for reinstatement of a respiratory care license. The proposed rule was published in the NC Register, Volume 40, Issue 05. Written comments will be accepted until 5:00 PM on November 4, 2025.

Why this matters

The NCRCB's move to codify a reinstatement process suggests the Board is formalizing an area that may have previously lacked clear regulatory guidance. Respiratory care practitioners with lapsed or inactive licenses, as well as employers who may need to verify credential reinstatement procedures, should consider submitting comments if the proposed rule does not adequately address their operational needs. The November 4, 2025 comment deadline provides approximately two months for affected parties to prepare substantive feedback.
