S2707 - DHCR Housing Development Funding Portal Bill
Summary
NY Senate Bill S2707, sponsored by Senator Rachel May, passed the Senate. The bill requires the Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) to develop a common application and web portal for housing development funding, tax credits, loans, and grants. The portal would be accessible to relevant state agencies and streamline the housing assistance application process.
What changed
NY Senate Bill S2707 requires the Commissioner of Housing and Community Renewal to develop a common application and web portal for housing development funding, tax credits, loans, and grants in collaboration with other state agencies. The bill passed the Senate and would establish a shared platform enabling consolidated access to multiple housing assistance programs.
For housing developers, nonprofits, and local governments seeking state housing funding, this bill would create a streamlined application process reducing the need to navigate multiple separate agency systems. The bill remains subject to Assembly passage and gubernatorial approval before becoming law. Interested parties should monitor legislative progress and prepare internal processes for potential future portal-based application requirements.
What to do next
- Monitor for Assembly action on S2707
- Prepare to use DHCR portal once implemented for housing funding applications
