Hwy 22 and Hwy 109 Detour in Wells Begins April 28
MN DOT announces a Highway 22 and Highway 109 construction project in Wells with detour starting April 28. Hwy 109 will be closed to through-traffic from west of Rose Hill Cemetery to Hwy 22, and Hwy 22 will be closed from the northern intersection with Hwy 109 to south of 1st Street Southwest throughout the 2026 construction season. Through-traffic will be detoured via Highways 22, 109, Interstate 90, and Faribault County Road 21. Ulland Brothers was awarded the $16,379,813.06 contract. Local access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
MnDOT Announces 200+ Road and Bridge Construction Projects for 2026
The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced its 2026 road construction season will include just over 200 projects to improve state roads, bridges, and other transportation infrastructure, plus 51 additional projects for airports, water ports, railroad crossings, and transit. Significant projects include Hwy 65 interchange construction in Blaine, I-35E bridge replacement in St. Paul, I-94 expansion between Albertville and Monticello, and completion of multiyear projects on I-94 in St. Paul, I-35W in Burnsville, and I-394/I-94 in Minneapolis.
Westbound I-94 St. Paul Weekend Closure April 17-20 Bridge Beam Installation
MN DOT announces closure of westbound I-94 in St. Paul from 10 p.m. Friday, April 17 through 5 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026. The closure between Marion Street and I-35E will allow crews to safely set bridge beams for the John Ireland Boulevard bridge reconstruction. Traffic will be detoured via northbound I-35E, Highway 36, and southbound Highway 280. Additional closures include sections of John Ireland Boulevard and 12th Street during the same period.
Highway 25 Closes April 21 Between Buffalo, Monticello for $11.4M Construction
The Minnesota Department of Transportation announces that Highway 25 will close between Buffalo and Monticello beginning April 21 through late October 2026. The $11.4 million project will reconstruct seven miles of Highway 25, repair drainage, improve access points, and build three roundabouts. A detour via Highway 55, Wright County Road 12, County Road 37, and County Road 131 will be posted for through traffic.
