Governor Gianforte Honors Montana Youth Challenge Academy Staff with Outstanding Service Award
Governor Greg Gianforte presented the Governor's Outstanding Service Award to Michelle Nelon and Ben Stewart of the Montana Youth Challenge Academy during an April 17, 2026 ceremony in Dillon, Montana. Nelon was recognized for 20 years of service leading the academy's post-residential mentor program, while Stewart received the award for 27 years of service in multiple cadet-support roles. The Governor's Outstanding Service Award recognizes state employees who go above and beyond in service to Montana residents.
Montana Recognizes Military Children at Capitol Ceremony
Lieutenant Governor Kristen Juras and the Montana National Guard held a ceremony at the Montana State Capitol on April 20, 2026, to recognize April as Month of the Military Child. Governor Gianforte issued a proclamation marking the occasion. Montana is home to over 6,000 military-connected youth. The ceremony featured remarks from Lt. Gov. Juras, Brigadier General Gibson, and two Helena students of military families.
Advisory Council Formed for 6th Judicial District Vacancy (Montana)
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte announced an advisory council to assist in reviewing candidates for the 6th Judicial District court vacancy in Park and Sweet Grass Counties. The seven-member council includes attorneys, a former sheriff, a county attorney, a former commissioner, and community representatives. The governor received one application and the public comment period closed on April 16, 2026; applicants must receive at least three letters of support to be considered for appointment.

Gianforte Continues 56 County Tour, Honors Veterans and Highlights Small Business
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte continued his annual 56 County Tour in Deer Lodge, Powell, and Granite counties on April 16, 2026. The governor presented a Veteran Commendation to U.S. Army veteran Specialist Kenneth Maynard, toured Western States Garage Door Supply, visited the SW Montana Veterans Food Pantry, and met with the Philipsburg Volunteer Fire Department. No regulatory actions, compliance obligations, or policy changes were announced.
