Cornelius Sentell Osborne Arrested for Unlicensed Contracting and Grand Theft

Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia announced the arrest of Cornelius Sentell Osborne in Plantation, Florida, on March 19, 2026. DFS Criminal Investigations Division agents found Osborne presented himself as a general contractor, agreed to perform restoration work on a fire-damaged home in Hollywood, Florida, and collected $174,000 from the victim before allegedly abandoning the project and leaving the residence uninhabitable.

CFO Ingoglia Awards $1.4M to Florida Fire Departments

Florida CFO and State Fire Marshal Blaise Ingoglia awarded over $1.4 million in grants to five Florida fire departments for equipment, training facilities, and firefighter safety. Recipients include DeSoto County ($1M for training tower), Hardee County ($400K for brush fire trucks), Parrish Fire District ($20,672), East Manatee Fire Rescue District ($12,248), and Town of Longboat Key ($7,976).

Arrests Illegal Alien for $300k Workers' Compensation Premium Fraud

Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia announced the arrest of Carlos Antonio Maradiaga Garcia by the Department of Financial Services Criminal Investigations Division in Jacksonville for workers' compensation premium fraud totaling $299,458. Maradiaga allegedly underreported payroll of approximately $2 million as only $25,000 to obtain a workers' compensation policy, resulting in the underpayment of $299,458 in premiums. Maradiaga was also determined to be an illegal alien with an order for removal from ICE. If convicted of all charges, he could face up to 30 years in prison.

Record $92M Unclaimed Property Returned to Floridians in March 2026

Florida CFO Blaise Ingoglia announced a record $92 million in unclaimed property returned to residents in March 2026, surpassing the previous month's record of $88 million. Returns were distributed across 10 regions statewide, with Tampa/St. Pete leading at $24.3 million, followed by Orlando and Miami at $18.6 million and $18 million respectively. Unclaimed property includes dormant bank accounts, unclaimed insurance proceeds, stocks, dividends, uncashed checks, deposits, and tangible assets from abandoned safe deposit boxes.
