State Board Approves Cherry Creek Teacher Apprenticeship Program and Multiple School Rules

The Colorado State Board of Education approved Cherry Creek School District's Teacher Degree Apprenticeship Program in partnership with Community College of Aurora, supporting 43 apprentices across 12 schools. The board also approved Community College of Aurora as a traditional teacher preparation program, new Healthy School Meals for All rules, amended restraint and seclusion rules aligned with HB25-1248, and rules establishing PWR program startup funding for 2025-26 through 2027-28.

State Board Grants Poudre School District Exclusive Charter Authority, Orders Gateway HS Improvements

The Colorado State Board of Education voted 5-4 to grant Poudre School District exclusive chartering authority effective July 1, 2026, following the district's unanimous February request. This allows Poudre to approve or reject new charter schools within its boundaries; the ten existing charter schools are unaffected. The board also unanimously ordered Aurora Public Schools to continue implementing targeted improvement efforts at Gateway High School under state accountability law, with CDE monitoring annually and a State Review Panel evaluation in spring 2028 if performance does not improve.

State's Largest Teacher Recruitment Fair Scheduled for March 7 at Frederick High School

The Colorado Department of Education announces the Colorado Educator Recruitment Fair on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Frederick High School in Frederick, Colorado. The event, hosted by the Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE) and the Colorado Association of School Personnel Administrators (CASPA), is the state's largest teacher employment fair with 61 hiring school districts and 3 charter schools participating. More than 300 candidates are expected to meet recruiters from across the state in person, with some districts offering contracts or letters of intent.

2026 TLCC Survey Shows Improvement in Educator Perceptions

Colorado Department of Education released results from the 2026 Teaching and Learning Conditions Colorado (TLCC) survey. Based on responses from more than 42,000 teachers and school-based staff (48.1% response rate), participants reported more positive perceptions about school environments compared to the 2024 survey administration. Key findings include 87% saying schools are good places to work, 90% saying schools are good environments for student learning, and 85% saying schools are led by effective teams.
