MGC Public Meeting #583: Casino Quarterly Reports, Sports Wagering House Rules, Civil Penalty
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission announces Public Meeting #583 on February 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Agenda items include quarterly reports from Encore Boston Harbor, Plainridge Park Casino, and MGM Springfield; updates to Penn Sports Interactive's House Rules; consideration of a civil administrative penalty for Bally's Interactive regarding email communications noncompliance; and discussions on regulations 205 CMR 116.10 and 205 CMR 238.30.
January 2026 Casino Revenue $91.9M, Sports Wagering $76.1M
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported January 2026 Gross Gaming Revenue of approximately $91.9 million from three casino licensees (Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield, Encore Boston Harbor) and approximately $76.1 million in taxable sports wagering revenue from seven mobile/online and three in-person sports wagering operators. Cumulative casino tax collections since opening total approximately $2.356 billion; cumulative sports wagering tax collections since 2023 total approximately $425.18 million.
Massachusetts Gaming Commission Public Meeting #585 - March 26, 2026
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission announces Public Meeting #585 on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will address discussion of regulations including 205 CMR 250 (Protection of Minors), 205 CMR 3.02 (Definitions), 205 CMR 3.28 (Prohibited Practices), and 205 CMR 3.29 (Medications and Prohibited Substances). Topics include Plainridge Park racing official approvals, an MGM request for lost wager payouts under 205 CMR 238.47, and an ad hoc sports wagering study for the FY26 Research Agenda. The meeting will be held remotely.
Massachusetts Gaming Commission Launches PlayWell Responsible Gaming Program
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission announced the launch of PlayWell on March 27, 2026, replacing the GameSense responsible gaming program. PlayWell is the Commission's wholly-owned player health and responsible gaming program, with administration managed by the Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health. PlayWell branding will appear at all Massachusetts casinos and sports wagering platforms, with PlayWell Hubs opening at each casino property on the launch date.
Jordan Maynard Reappointed as MGC Commissioner and Redesignated Chair
Governor Maura Healey, Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell, and Treasurer Deborah Goldberg jointly reappointed Jordan Maynard as Commissioner to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission for a second five-year term, effective March 25, 2026. Governor Healey also redesignated Maynard as Chair of the Commission. Maynard was initially appointed in 2022 and has served as Chair since October 2024.
