SR 410/Chinook Pass Snowpack Below 50 Percent, Early Reopening Unlikely
WA DOT's Snoqualmie Pass social media account reported that snowpack in the Cascades along SR 410/Chinook Pass is below 50% of average. When asked whether the pass could reopen early this season, the agency stated it is too soon to determine. Cooler and wetter weather is forecasted for the coming week.
I-90 Snoqualmie Pass Snowfall: 10-16 Inches Reported
WA DOT reported 24-hour snowfall accumulations of 10-16 inches across Snoqualmie Pass routes, including 10 inches on I-90, 12 inches on US 12/White, and 16 inches on SR 410/Chinook. An additional 1-3 inches of snow is forecast for Thursday.
I-90 Closed Both Directions, Multiple Collisions, No Reopening Estimate
Washington State DOT has closed Interstate 90 in both directions between milepost 47 (just west of Snoqualmie Summit) and milepost 71 (Easton) due to multiple blocking collisions. The closure took effect on April 15, 2026. No estimate for reopening has been provided, and travelers are advised to seek alternate routes.
