I-90 Closed Both Directions, Multiple Collisions, No Reopening Estimate
Summary
Washington State DOT has closed Interstate 90 in both directions between milepost 47 (just west of Snoqualmie Summit) and milepost 71 (Easton) due to multiple blocking collisions. The closure took effect on April 15, 2026. No estimate for reopening has been provided, and travelers are advised to seek alternate routes.
What changed
Washington State DOT issued an emergency closure of Interstate 90 in both directions between mileposts 47 and 71 following multiple blocking collisions near Snoqualmie Pass. The closure was triggered by winter weather conditions that allegedly caught drivers off guard. The agency has not issued a reopening estimate.
Trucking companies, logistics operators, and general travelers in the Snoqualmie Pass corridor should anticipate extended delays and should not rely on I-90 as a transit route until the highway is cleared and reopened. Commercial carriers operating on east-west routes through Washington State should monitor WA DOT advisories for route alternatives.
