What changed
PennDOT rescheduled a weekend road closure on Route 147 in Dauphin County, moving it from the originally planned weekend to May 8-11, 2026. The closure is needed to remove and backfill an abandoned culvert along a 4.8-mile resurfacing project corridor spanning from Black Shoulder Lane in Halifax Township north through Millersburg Borough to Tarry Hall Road in Upper Paxton Township. Affected parties, including trucking companies, logistics operators, and general commuters, should plan for significant delays and use the designated detour via Route 209, Wiconisco Street and Center Street. All other project work will be performed during daylight hours under flagging operations.
Drivers and transportation companies operating along this corridor should anticipate congestion and adjust routes or schedules accordingly during the May 8-11 closure window. The broader project runs through November 13, 2026, and may involve intermittent daytime flagging operations.
