Maintenance to Close Exit Ramps to Smith County Rest Area
Monday, April 27, 2026 | 10:33am Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will conduct ramp closures on Interstate 40 in Smith County.
Beginning April 28, through April 29, crews will conduct a full closure of the eastbound exit ramp to the Smith County Rest area at mile marker 267. During this closure, the westbound exit ramp will remain open. On April 30, operations will shift to close the westbound exit ramp, with the eastbound ramp remaining open. These closures are necessary for maintenance operations.
All work is weather-dependent. As always, drivers are reminded to allow additional time, slow down, and move over when traveling through a work zone. The Move Over Law was passed in 2006.
