Governor Hochul Announces Partnership Between State Police and DFS to Combat Insurance Fraud
New York Governor Hochul announced a partnership between the State Police and the Department of Financial Services (DFS) to combat insurance fraud through specialized training. A symposium in July at the NYSP Academy in Albany will train 250 law enforcement personnel on detecting, investigating, and prosecuting financial crimes including auto insurance fraud. Insurance carriers reported 43,811 suspected motor vehicle fraud incidents to DFS in 2025, an 80 percent increase from 24,238 in 2020.
GTSC Drug-Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign, Apr 14-20
The New York Governor's Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC), housed within NY DMV, announced a statewide drug-impaired driving prevention and enforcement campaign running April 14-20, 2025. The campaign aims to increase awareness and enforcement around drugged driving across New York State.
