I-25 Montgomery Northbound Off-Ramp Closed 24/7 for 3 Weeks Starting March 22
The New Mexico Department of Transportation announced the closure of the northbound I-25 Montgomery Boulevard off-ramp beginning Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 10 p.m., continuing 24/7 for approximately three weeks. The closure supports construction of the new off-ramp as part of the I-25 Improved project. Drivers will be rerouted via Jefferson Street interchange and should anticipate heavy traffic delays.
NMDOT 2026 Owner of the Year, Engineering News-Record

NMDOT Prepares Good Friday Pilgrimage to El Santuario de Chimayo
NMDOT announced operational preparations for the annual Good Friday pilgrimage to El Santuario de Chimayo, including enhanced safety measures along pilgrimage routes between Santa Fe and Cuyamungue. The agency has deployed over 150 orange barrels, approximately 250 safety signs, temporary stop signs, portable lighting, and electronic message boards to manage increased pedestrian traffic along N.M. 76 and N.M. 503.
David Quintana Appointed Acting NMDOT Secretary, $500M Budget
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham appointed David D. Quintana as Acting Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Transportation. Quintana has over two decades of agency experience, rising from Engineer in Training to Programs and Infrastructure Division Director and Chief Engineer, overseeing 220+ employees and managing an annual budget exceeding $500 million. He assumes the role immediately.
Route 66 Receives New Mexico National Scenic Byway Designation
The New Mexico Department of Transportation announced that Route 66 has received National Scenic Byway designation as part of the state's celebration of the route's 100th anniversary. A GIS StoryMap highlighting the history and significance of Historic Route 66 was created by NMDOT GIS Data Analyst Alma Pacheco and earned a first place award from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
