SPRINGFIELD – With another historic construction season ramping up, the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police and their safety partners are sharing important details about local projects and tips for safely navigating work zones. ​

As part of National Work Zone Awareness Week, representatives from transportation, law enforcement, industry and labor will be hosting events throughout the country, reminding the public of this year’s theme: “Safe Actions Save Lives.” After the formal program, IDOT staff will be available for questions about the status of area projects. Frontline workers also will be on hand to discuss their personal experiences in work zones. ​
