I-40 Douglas Blvd Interchange Opens, $170M Project Complete
Oklahoma Transportation Commission Meeting Scheduled for April 6
The Oklahoma Transportation Commission announces its monthly meeting for 11 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2026, at the R.A. Ward Transportation Building in Oklahoma City. The public meeting agenda includes a proclamation for Work Zone Awareness Week, approval of the US-70 Roosevelt Bridge replacement over Lake Texoma, and votes on multiple infrastructure contracts including bridge rehabilitation projects on US-64/US-412, nine miles of I-35 resurfacing in Norman, and a $73 million I-40 widening project from the Kickapoo Turnpike east to McCloud.
Zachry-Traylor JV Selected for US-70 Roosevelt Bridge Replacement
The Oklahoma Transportation Commission approved Zachry Construction and Traylor Bros. Inc. joint venture as the apparent best value proposer for the US-70 Roosevelt Bridge replacement over Lake Texoma. The $408 million contract covers final design and construction phases using a modified progressive design-build delivery method. Construction begins summer 2026 with completion expected fall 2029.
Safe Actions Save Lives: Statewide Work Zone Safety Campaign Launches April 20
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation and Oklahoma Turnpike Authority launched a statewide work zone safety campaign called 'Safe Actions Save Lives' running April 20-30, 2026. The campaign encourages drivers to slow down, stay alert, avoid distractions, and buckle up when traveling through work zones. With over 130 active work zones expected across the state this summer, the initiative includes public service announcements and events to raise awareness about work zone safety, honoring the 74 ODOT and OTA employees who have died in the line of duty.
Work Zone Awareness Campaign Begins, $175M Awarded
The Oklahoma Transportation Commission met on April 6, 2026, approved the launch of a work zone awareness campaign for April 20-24, and awarded 25 contracts totaling over $175 million for road and bridge improvements statewide. Major projects include a $408 million bridge replacement on US-70 over Lake Texoma and a $73 million highway widening on I-40.
