Weekend Lane Closures on I-285 in DeKalb for Concrete Rehabilitation
Expect Traffic Delays METRO ATLANTA – Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will install lane closures on Interstate 285 (I-285) in DeKalb County this weekend as a concrete rehabilitation project continues on I-285 between Snapfinger Road and State Route 8/Lawrenceville Highway (SR 8). The concrete rehabilitation will repair the deteriorating condition of the roadway.
Weather and on-site conditions permitting, crews will install “rolling” lane closures on I-285 eastbound and westbound between Glenwood Road and Lavista Road each weekend night beginning Friday, April 17, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following mornings. Crews will apply final lane striping on the roadway and as they complete work in one area, the lane closures will “roll” to the next work location.

This project is scheduled for completion in January 2026 at a cost of $7.3 million. As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways.
