DGAC Chile Wraps Up FIDAE 2026 Participation
The Chilean General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) concluded its participation in the 24th International Air and Space Fair (FIDAE 2026) on April 12, 2026, in Santiago de Chile. The DGAC institutional booth featured virtual reality demonstrations of air traffic control operations, interactive displays on drone/RPAS regulations, and information on the new Operational Safety Management System (SIGO). Notable visitors included Defense Minister Fernando Barros, Undersecretary Rodrigo Álvarez, and other senior government officials, who were received by DGAC Director General Humberto Fernández.
DGAC Chile Participates in Green Hydrogen Workshop at University of Chile
On April 21, 2026, the Head of Environment of the Planning Department of Chile's Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC), accompanied by analyst Sybil Bitreras, participated in a workshop titled "Korea's Green Hydrogen Strategy: Chile's Potential as a Provider in the Pacific." The workshop was organized by the Korean Studies Program of the University of Chile's Institute of International Studies and featured opening remarks by Korean Ambassador Hak-Jae Kim. Dr. Kim Younkyoo of the Hanyang Institute for Energy & the Environment served as the main speaker on Korea's green hydrogen energy strategy.
DGAC Participa en Reunión para Uso Seguro de Drones en Fiesta de la Tirana
DGAC officials participated in an inter-institutional coordination meeting on April 7, 2026, at SENAPRED Tarapacá to discuss safe drone (RPAS) operations ahead of the annual Fiesta de la Tirana festival held each July. DGAC representatives including the airport manager and ATS chief presented current regulatory framework and technical guidance for responsible RPAS use. The meeting also addressed community outreach strategies to prevent incidents and protect attendees at this large regional event.
