Summary

The U.S. Department of State published a notice of determinations allowing additional objects to be imported from abroad for temporary display in the 'Anne Frank' exhibition at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, Illinois. The objects are deemed of cultural significance and their temporary exhibition in the United States is found to be in the national interest. This extends a prior determination published December 17, 2024.

What changed

The Department of State issued a supplementary determination under the authority of 22 U.S.C. 2459 (the Cultural Property Act of 1965), authorizing the temporary import of additional objects for the Anne Frank exhibition. These objects will be displayed at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and possibly at additional venues yet to be determined. The determinations find the objects to be of cultural significance and their temporary exhibition to be in the national interest.

No action is required from the general public. This is a routine administrative notice confirming import authorization for cultural artifacts. Museums or importers involved in cultural property loans should ensure they maintain proper documentation and agreements with foreign owners as required under 22 U.S.C. 2459. The prior notice at 89 FR 102241 (December 17, 2024) should be referenced for the original determinations.
