Tomographic PIV System Tender - National Research Council of Canada
Summary
The National Research Council of Canada has issued a tender for a Tomographic PIV System, with a closing date of April 7, 2026. This procurement aims to acquire advanced flow measurement equipment for research into gas turbine engine cooling systems.
What changed
The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is seeking to acquire a compact, multi-camera Tomographic PIV System through tender solicitation number 25-58142-A. The system will be used for high-resolution volumetric flow measurements in wind tunnel setups to investigate jet-in-crossflow configurations, specifically for effusion and transpiration cooling strategies relevant to gas turbine engines. This acquisition is intended to provide critical data for understanding and optimizing cooling systems, thereby enhancing engine thermal efficiency.
Companies interested in supplying this specialized equipment must submit their bids by the closing date of April 7, 2026. The estimated contract duration is two months. Potential suppliers can find detailed tender documents and information on partnering opportunities on the CanadaBuys platform. The NRC is the contracting organization, with Mike Cox serving as the contracting authority.

Description
The objective is to acquire a compact, multi-camera system for conducting high-resolution volumetric flow measurements using Tomographic PTV and Tomographic PIV techniques. The system will be deployed in a wind tunnel setup to investigate jet-in-crossflow (JICF) configurations relevant to effusion and
transpiration cooling strategies. These measurements will provide critical insight into boundary layer behavior, jet penetration, mixing efficiency, turbulence intensity, and unsteady flow structures within the cooling film. The resulting data will support the fundamental understanding and optimization of gas
turbine engine liner cooling systems. By improving the effectiveness of these cooling techniques, the research contributes to enhancing engine thermal efficiency and enabling the adoption of advanced combustion technologies. The system enables the acquisition of full three-dimensional velocity fields data
that would otherwise only be accessible through numerical simulations.
