Patent Application for User Equipment, Base Stations, and Methods
Summary
The USPTO has published a new patent application detailing user equipment, base stations, and methods for wireless communication. The application, filed on October 31, 2023, describes specific configurations for message handling and data transmission in cellular networks.
What changed
This document is a patent application (US20260088960A1) filed with the USPTO, detailing technical specifications for user equipment (UE) and base stations. It outlines methods for acquiring configuration messages related to Msg4 HARQ-ACK repetition and sending corresponding MAC PDUs. The abstract specifies variations in MAC sub-header construction based on whether the configuration message is acquired, impacting how the UE signals its capability or request for Msg4 HARQ-ACK repetition.
As this is a patent application, it does not impose direct regulatory obligations or compliance deadlines on entities. However, it represents potential future technological standards or intellectual property that companies in the telecommunications sector may need to consider in their product development and licensing strategies.

Abstract
A UE is described. The UE may comprise RRC layer processing circuitry configured to acquire the first RRC message in SIB. The first RRC message is a configuration of repetition for Msg4 HARQ-ACK. The UE may comprise MAC layer processing circuitry configured to send the first MAC PDU. The first MAC PDU include a MAC sub-header and MAC SUD containing UL CCCH. If the first RRC message is not acquired, the MAC sub-header consists of 1 bit for the first reserved field, 1 bit for the second reserved field and 6 bits for LCID field. If the first RRC message is acquired, the MAC sub-header consists of 1 bit for the reserved field, 1 bit for a X field and 6 bits for LCID field. The X field may indicate whether or not the UE requests repetition of Msg4 HARQ-ACK. Alternatively, The X field may indicate whether or not the UE reports that the UE is capability of repetition of Msg4 HARQ-ACK.
