The comment period closes on May 26, 2026.
What changed
The FCC has issued a notice requesting public comments on a revision to an existing information collection, specifically OMB Control Number 3060-0236, which pertains to Section 74.703 of its rules regarding interference reporting for Low Power Television and Television Translator Stations. This revision stems from a Report and Order adopted in 2023 and an earlier Order in 2021 that modified the scope of the collection. The FCC is seeking input on the necessity, utility, accuracy of burden estimates, and potential burden minimization for this collection.
Entities that may be affected by this information collection, including businesses, state, local, or tribal governments, and non-profit institutions, are invited to submit comments by May 26, 2026. The notice emphasizes that no one is subject to penalty for failing to comply with a PRA-covered collection that lacks a valid OMB control number. The current collection is estimated to involve 50 respondents, 50 responses, with an estimated time per response of 2 hours, resulting in a total annual burden of 100 hours and an annual cost of $100,000.
What to do next
- Submit written comments regarding the information collection by May 26, 2026.
- Advise the contact person if difficulty is anticipated in meeting the comment deadline.
Penalties
No person shall be subject to any penalty for failing to comply with a collection of information subject to the PRA that does not display a valid OMB control number.
