Patent Application: Communication Method and Apparatus
Summary
The USPTO has published a patent application (US20260088955A1) detailing a new communication method and apparatus. The invention focuses on increasing the quantity of pilot subcarriers used in data transmission, potentially enhancing communication efficiency.
What changed
This patent application, filed by inventors Mengshi Hu, Bo Gong, Ming Gan, and Jian Yu, describes a novel communication method and apparatus. The core innovation lies in a technique for increasing the number of pilot subcarriers (from K to K+M) within a given bandwidth (Y subcarriers) to carry data. This method aims to improve data transmission efficiency by optimizing the use of subcarriers, particularly for at least one RU and/or at least one MRU.
While this is a patent application and not a regulation with direct compliance obligations, it signals potential future technological developments in networking and telecommunications. Companies involved in developing or implementing communication technologies, particularly those related to wireless standards or data transmission protocols, should monitor such patent filings as they may indicate emerging industry standards or patented technologies that could impact future product development or licensing strategies.

Abstract
This application provides a communication method and a communication apparatus. The method includes: generating a PPDU; and transmitting the PPDU on a channel corresponding to a first bandwidth. X subcarriers in Y subcarriers corresponding to the first bandwidth are used to carry data corresponding to X data subcarriers of at least one RU and/or at least one MRU, the X subcarriers are subcarriers other than K pilot subcarriers in the Y subcarriers, the Y subcarriers further include M pilot subcarriers, and the M pilot subcarriers are subcarriers other than the X subcarriers and the K pilot subcarriers in the Y subcarriers. The method is designed for “increasing a quantity of pilot subcarriers”, and the quantity of pilot subcarriers is extended from K to K+M. In other words, the M pilot subcarriers are added.
