The method includes: obtaining, by a computer system, data associated with supported protocols for configuring a plurality of IoT devices; obtaining, by the computer system, configuration operations for the plurality of IoT devices; curating, by the computer system, configuration abstractions from the data associated with supported protocols for configuring the plurality of IoT devices and the configuration operations for the plurality of IoT devices; and transforming, by the computer system, the configuration abstractions for the plurality of IoT devices into software-defined configuration abstractions.
