FCC Notice of Information Collection Review
Summary
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a notice to review an existing information collection under the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA). The FCC is seeking public comments on the necessity, utility, and burden of the collection, which applies to state, local, or tribal governments.
What changed
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published a notice to review and potentially revise an existing information collection (OMB Control Number 3060-1312) related to Section 90.1207(e) and (f) of its rules. This review is conducted under the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) and seeks comments on various aspects, including the practical utility of the information, the accuracy of the burden estimate (currently 16 hours per response for 190 respondents, totaling 3,040 hours annually), and methods to reduce the burden, particularly for small businesses.
Regulated entities, specifically state, local, or tribal governments, are invited to submit comments by May 15, 2026. The FCC is particularly interested in feedback on enhancing the quality and clarity of the information collected and minimizing the burden through technology. While this is a notice and comment period, the underlying collection is a revision of a currently approved collection, and no penalties are associated with failing to comply with collections lacking a valid OMB control number.
What to do next
- Review FCC's notice regarding information collection OMB 3060-1312.
- Submit comments on the collection's necessity, utility, and burden by May 15, 2026, if applicable.
- Ensure compliance with any future revisions to the information collection once approved by OMB.
