Street Works Charges Order 2026 Approves Seven Highway Authorities for Lane Rental Schemes

The Secretary of State for Transport has made The Street Works (Charges for Occupation of the Highway) Order 2026 (S.I. 2026/424), approving seven highway authorities to operate Lane Rental Schemes under the 2012 Regulations. The approved authorities are Buckinghamshire Council, North Yorkshire Council, Oxfordshire County Council, and four London Boroughs (Camden, Enfield, Lambeth, and Merton). These authorities may now require daily charges for street works carried out at Traffic-Sensitive Locations during Traffic-Sensitive Times.

Public Toilet Cleaning Contract Award - Monitor Cleaning

Buckinghamshire Council awarded a £2.73M public toilet cleaning contract to Monitor Cleaning Services Limited. The 3-year contract covers 25 public conveniences and car park facilities across Buckinghamshire, with potential extensions up to 6 years. Four tenders were received, all from SMEs.

County Wide Grounds Maintenance Services - £23.76M Tender

Buckinghamshire Council published a tender notice for County Wide Grounds Maintenance Services valued at £23.76 million. The contract covers grounds maintenance, play area inspection and maintenance, and Green Space services across Buckinghamshire. Submissions are due by 12 May 2026.
