What changed

The Mississippi Real Estate Commission issued an Official Letter of Reprimand to Principal Broker Estella Mayfield on May 23, 2025, for violations of MREC Rules 3.1(B), 4.3, 3.1(F), and Miss. Code §73-35-21(1)(n). The Commission determined that a salesperson employed by Mayfield failed to correctly complete the Working With a Real Estate Broker (WWREB) form on three separate occasions, and that Mayfield bears responsibility as the principal broker for this affiliated salesperson's actions.

Principal brokers in Mississippi are reminded that supervisory responsibility extends to ensuring affiliated agents properly complete required disclosure forms. The reprimand warns that repeated violations may result in suspension or revocation of the real estate license. Brokers should review their supervision practices and ensure agents understand WWREB form requirements to avoid similar disciplinary action.

IN RE: The Matter of Estelle Mayfield, Principal Broker (MREC Case No. 2024-48)

Dear Ms. Mayfield: Pursuant to the agreement you signed April 4, 2025, as set forth in the Notice of Alleged Violations and

Opportunity for Informal Resolution with Waiver of Formal Complaint, the Commission, in May 19, 2025

meeting, voted unanimously to approve said Informal Resolution as offered and agreed, and to issue this

Official Letter of Reprimand based upon the following violations of the statutes and administrative rules

governing real estate practice in Mississippi. The Investigative Committee of the MREC determined that the information obtained during the investigation of the subject 2024 real estate transaction at issue showed, and that you admitted:

  • In a transaction wherein Mary Jane Wooten acted as a salesperson in your employ, Ms. Wooten failed
to correctly complete a Working With a Real Estate Broker (WWREB) form on three separate occasions, and, as Ms. Wooten's principal broker, you are responsible for the actions of said salesperson. of [an] affiliated broker [or salesperson]…"

  • MREC Rule 4.3: [Disclosure Requirements] … [WWREB form].

  • Miss. Code §73-35-21(1)(n): "Any act or conduct … which constitutes … improper dealing."

  • MREC Rule 3.1(F): "Any licensee who … fails or neglects to abide by Mississippi Real Estate

Commission's Rules and Regulations shall be deemed … to be guilty of improper dealing."

The above-named licensee is hereby reprimanded and admonished to observe the foregoing statutes and rules

on peril of suspension or revocation of the issued real estate license if the violations are repeated. This Official Letter of Reprimand will be maintained in your permanent license file on record with the Commission. Sincerely,

Bryan P. Lieb, Esq.
