Nevada January 2026 Jobs Report: Unemployment 5.3%, Nonfarm Jobs 1.602M

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) released its January 2026 economic report showing the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose 0.1 percentage points to 5.3 percent. Total nonfarm employment stood at 1,602,000 jobs, representing a gain of 30,200 jobs (1.9%) over the year and 2,000 jobs since December 2025. Annual benchmark revisions added 28,600 more jobs to the December 2025 estimate, revised from earlier projections.

EmployNV Hiring Events Southern Nevada April 10-24

Nevada February 2026 Employment Report Unemployment Steady 5.3%

Nevada DETR released its February 2026 economic report showing the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 5.3% compared to January 2026. Total nonfarm employment increased by 1,500 jobs since January to 1,605,200, representing 2.2% year-over-year growth. The labor force grew by 3,829 individuals to 1,698,029. Las Vegas MSA added 1,100 jobs, Reno-Sparks MSA added 1,000 jobs, while Carson City MSA lost 200 jobs.

Nevada Unemployment 5.3%, Up 0.1pp from December

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) released its January 2026 Local Area Employment Statistics report, showing the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 5.3% (up 0.1 percentage points from December 2025). The Las Vegas MSA recorded 5.8% unemployment, Reno MSA 4.7%, and Carson City MSA 4.6%. Statewide, 89,283 people were unemployed out of a labor force of 1,694,147. EmployNV Hub Grand Opening in Fernley, Nevada

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation (DETR) announced the grand opening of a new EmployNV Hub in Fernley, Nevada on April 24, 2026. The hub, operated through a partnership between DETR and Nevadaworks (the northern Nevada workforce development board administering federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds), will provide no-cost workforce services including job search assistance, skills training, employer support, and career counseling to Nevada businesses and job seekers across 13 northern counties.
