UIA adds seminars to guide employers through activating new MiUI accounts

April 15, 2026

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency is expanding its seminar offerings for employers to help guide them in their transition to the new MiUI user platform. The newly added seminars run daily and are focused on account activation.

MiUI will replace the more than a decade-old Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) with a modern tax and benefits system designed to streamline processes, provide a more intuitive interface, and enhance security. The first phase of MiUI for employers and their account administrators rolled out in February.

All employers must activate their MiUI accounts since it is an employer-driven system. Even if an employer designates a third-party administrator (TPA) to perform some functions for them, the employer is responsible for initiating and updating their MiUI account.

The How to Activate Your MiUI Account sessions are offered daily at 10 a.m. to help employers and TPAs initiate their MiUI accounts. Presenters will walk participants through finding their MiUI Activation Code and completing required setup steps. The daily sessions provide flexibility for organizations that need quick assistance getting started in the new system.

Employers and TPAs can also sign up for weekly Employer/TPA Seminars on Activation and Wage Reporting designed to help users prepare quarterly wage reports and submit payments through MiUI. Reports can no longer be submitted using UIA’s old MiWAM platform. These seminars will be held April 15 and 22 and can benefit those who want to learn more about updated file formats, submitting wage reports, and making payments in MiUI by the Monday, April 27, 2026, deadline.

Sign up for a daily or weekly Seminar for MiUI.

Click “Select” next to the UIA Coaching Sessions category on the
Coaching Sessions webpage at Michigan.gov/UIA to choose which
daily or weekly session you wish to attend.

The seminars will not address questions from employers or administrators regarding individual MiUI accounts. Those seeking information about specific accounts or wage reports should direct their questions to the Office of Employer Ombudsman by calling 1-855-484-2636 (Option 4) or e-mailing UIA-MiUIEmployerSupport@Michigan.gov.

Information and FAQs about initiating accounts, new quarterly wage report file formats, and how to test and submit wage reports can be found at Michigan.gov/MiUIUniversity.

Phase two of MiUI for claimants is scheduled to be available this summer.
