Summary

IVASS has ordered the blocking of 2 websites offering unauthorized insurance services: www.assicurazionitridentine.it and www.rca.astra-fcagroup.it. The total number of blocked illegal websites now stands at 359 since the blocking authority began in November 2023. IVASS advises consumers to verify that insurance sellers appear on official IVASS intermediary lists and to avoid purchasing policies through messaging apps or prepaid cards.

What changed

IVASS has ordered the blocking of two websites offering unauthorized insurance services without the required regulatory authorization. The websites, www.assicurazionitridentine.it and www.rca.astra-fcagroup.it, have been flagged for illegally providing insurance products to Italian consumers. This action brings the total number of blocked illegal websites to 359 since the inception of IVASS blocking authority in November 2023.

Insurance consumers in Italy should verify that any insurance provider or intermediary they engage with appears on IVASS official registers of supervised entities. Consumers should be particularly cautious of insurance offers made through messaging applications or requests for prepaid card payments, as these are indicators of potentially fraudulent schemes. Legitimate insurance providers will only appear through authorized channels and standard payment methods.

What to do next

  1. Verify insurance providers are listed on IVASS official registers before purchasing
  2. Avoid purchasing insurance through messaging apps or prepaid card payments
  3. Report suspicious insurance offers to IVASS Contact Center
