Government Announces £8.9M Funding for 16 Regulatory Innovation Projects Including Drone Medicines Delivery and AI Fire Risk Assessment

The UK government announced £8.9 million in funding through the Regulators' Pioneer Fund for 16 projects aimed at reducing regulatory barriers for innovative technologies. Funded projects include drone delivery of medicines in Scottish islands, AI tools assisting London Fire Brigade with risk assessments, and street-sweeping robot trials in Milton Keynes. The Regulatory Innovation Office published its One-Year On report documenting achievements including faster drone risk assessments and extended trials of drone blood delivery at St Thomas' and Guy's hospitals.

MOU Between ICO and HM Government on Information Cooperation

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and HM Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalise cooperation and collaboration on information protection matters. The MOU, jointly issued by the ICO, Cabinet Office, and Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, establishes an enduring framework for working together in line with their respective roles. The agreement is not intended to be exhaustive and builds on existing approaches to protecting people's information.
