A12 Closure Moordrecht-Woerden, 13-18 May 2026

Rijkswaterstaat will close the A12 highway in the Utrecht direction between Moordrecht (exit 10) and Woerden (exit 14) from Wednesday May 13 at 22:00 to Monday May 18 at 05:00 for asphalt replacement and maintenance work. Traffic from The Hague to Utrecht will be diverted via the A4, A9 and A2, while Rotterdam-bound traffic will use the A20, A16, A15 and A27. Motorists should expect additional travel time of 30 to 60 minutes and are advised to check current traffic information before departure.

Prinses Margrietkanaal Fully Closed April 24 for Bridge Section Lift

Rijkswaterstaat has announced the complete closure of the Prinses Margrietkanaal on Friday, 24 April 2026 between 08:00 and 17:00 to lift a large bridge section onto a pontoon. The steel bridge segment measures 26 metres high, 21 metres wide, and weighs approximately 300,000 kg — comparable to a fully loaded passenger aircraft. The operation concerns a movable bridge section for the new bridge on the south side of the Schinkelbrug (A10 Zuid) in Amsterdam, manufactured by Solidd Steel Structures in Sumar. If the lift cannot be completed on 24 April, a backup window is available on Saturday 25 April.

A16 Closed Two Weekends in May Between Ridderkerk and Terbregseplein

Rijkswaterstaat announces two weekend closures of the A16 main carriageway between junctions Ridderkerk and Terbregseplein in May 2026. The first closure affects the Rotterdam direction from Friday 15 May 22:00 to Monday 18 May 05:00; the second affects the Dordrecht/Breda direction from Friday 22 May 22:00 to Monday 25 May 05:00. Traffic will be diverted via A15, A4 (Beneluxtunnel), and A20, with expected delays of 30 to 60 minutes.
