Senate Bill Waives Notice for Posthumous Promotion of Captain Cody Khork
Summary
The U.S. Senate has passed S.4138, a bill to waive the 60-day notice requirement for the posthumous honorary promotion of Captain Cody Khork of the United States Army to the rank of major. This legislative action specifically addresses an individual case to facilitate the promotion.
What changed
The U.S. Senate has enacted S.4138, a bill that waives the standard 60-day notice period required under section 1563a(b) of title 10, United States Code. This waiver is specifically for the posthumous honorary promotion of Captain Cody Khork of the United States Army to the rank of major. The bill directly amends existing statutory requirements to accommodate this particular circumstance.
This legislative action means that the usual procedural delay for such promotions is bypassed for Captain Khork. For compliance officers, this highlights how individual legislative acts can modify statutory requirements, even for minor procedural matters. While this specific bill applies to a single individual, it serves as a reminder of the potential for targeted legislative interventions in military personnel matters. No immediate compliance actions are required for other entities, as this is a specific legislative amendment.
