DNR Property Sale for Avian Flu Prevention Bill Vetoed
Wisconsin Assembly Bill 1032, which would have authorized the sale of property under Department of Natural Resources jurisdiction to prevent the spread of avian flu, was vetoed by the Governor on April 3, 2026. The bill had passed both chambers after multiple amendments but did not become law. The veto ends the legislative effort to create Wis. Stat. 23.15 (1m) for this purpose.
Termination of Parental Rights Under Safe Haven Law
Wisconsin Assembly Bill 903 relating to termination of parental rights under the safe haven law was vetoed by Governor Tony Evers on April 3, 2026. The bill would have amended Wisconsin Statutes 48.14(2)(a), 48.14(2)(b), and 48.185(2), and created 48.417(1m). Since the bill was vetoed, it will not become law and Wisconsin's existing safe haven and parental rights termination statutes remain unchanged.
Wisconsin University Appointment and Faculty Governance Bill Vetoed
Wisconsin Assembly Bill AB757 was vetoed by Governor Tony Evers on April 3, 2026. The bill would have modified Wisconsin statutes governing appointment of certain University of Wisconsin System employees and faculty governance under sections 36.09 and 36.17. Despite passing both chambers (Assembly 53-45, Senate rejected substitute amendment 18-15), the veto prevents any changes to university personnel appointment authority.
Wisconsin overtime income tax subtraction vetoed
Wisconsin Governor vetoed AB461 on April 3, 2026, which would have created a state income tax subtraction for certain overtime compensation under Wisconsin statutes 71.05 and 71.52. The bill had passed both chambers with bipartisan opposition (61-35 in Assembly, 21-12 in Senate). Multiple Senate substitute amendments were ruled not germane before the bill reached the floor.
Pupil Eligibility for Parental Choice Programs - Vetoed
Wisconsin Governor vetoed Assembly Bill 460 on April 3, 2026. Wisconsin Unemployment Insurance Law Changes
Wisconsin Assembly Bill 167, which proposed various changes to state unemployment insurance law including new Joint Committee on Finance approval requirements for certain federally authorized unemployment benefits, was vetoed by Governor Tony Evers on April 3, 2026. The bill had passed the Assembly 53-42 on April 22, 2025, and the Senate 18-14 on January 21, 2026. Due to the veto, the proposed statutory amendments to sections 108.04 and 16.54 of Wisconsin statutes will not take effect.
Internet Material Distribution Bill Vetoed
Wisconsin Governor vetoed Assembly Bill 105 on April 3, 2026. The bill would have created Wis. Stat. ยง 100.76 to regulate the distribution of certain material on the Internet by requiring age verification. AB105 passed both chambers (Assembly 69-22) but was vetoed before becoming law.
Wisconsin AB24 - County Sheriff Federal Immigration Assistance Vetoed
Wisconsin Assembly Bill AB24 was vetoed by Governor Tony Evers on April 3, 2026. The bill would have created Wisconsin Statutes 59.28(3) and 79.039(1g), establishing a framework for county sheriffs to assist with certain federal immigration enforcement functions. Sponsored by 42 Republican legislators, the bill was subject to extensive Senate amendment activity before ultimately being vetoed, preserving the status quo for Wisconsin law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
