PT Board Winter Newsletter: Compact Updates, Wellness Program, Board Changes
The Alabama Board of Physical Therapy (ABPT) published its January 2024 newsletter covering three key updates: (1) appointment of Zach Nelson, PTA as the new Northern District board member effective December 15, 2023, replacing Nathan McGriff; (2) progress toward issuing PT Compact privileges by mid-summer 2024, including completed administrative code amendments and contracted fingerprinting services with Fieldprint; and (3) the Impaired Practitioner Wellness Program, currently serving 12 participants (11 by self-report) under Dr. Mike Garver's administration. Two brief disciplinary notices are also listed.
2024 Summer Newsletter Covers PT Legislation, Renewals
The Alabama Board of Physical Therapy issued its summer 2024 newsletter announcing the new Direct Access law effective June 1, 2024, background check requirements for new applicants as of June 14, 2024, and the annual renewal period from July 1 through September 30. The newsletter also discusses PT Compact participation and renewal requirements including continuing education hours for PTs and PTAs.
Alabama PT Board Newsletter: PT Compact, License Renewal
Alabama Board of Physical Therapy newsletter covering PT Compact expansion to 32 participating states and DC, enabling streamlined multistate practice privileges for PTs and PTAs. Annual license renewal period is July 1 through September 30. 2025 is a Jurisprudence Year requiring 2 of 10 CE hours (12 if Direct Access) in Alabama-specific jurisprudence continuing education.
Board Nominations Open, Wellness Program, Thentia Software
The Alabama Board of Physical Therapy issued its February 2026 newsletter announcing three open Board appointment nominations: Licensed Physical Therapist (Congressional Districts 3, 4, 6, or 7), Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (southern division), and Consumer Member (State at Large). Nominations close March 31, 2026. The Board also announced transition to new Thentia regulatory software for license renewals and highlighted the Impaired Practitioner Wellness Program with approximately 15 participants.
