Three Board Seats Up for Election, Nominations Due May 14
CalPERS has opened the nomination period for three Board of Administration seats representing state, school, and public agency members. Nomination petitions are due May 14, 2026 by 5:00 PM PT. Voting opens August 28 and closes September 28, 2026.
Theresa Taylor Re-elected Board President, David Miller Vice President for 2026
The CalPERS Board of Administration re-elected Theresa Taylor as board president and David Miller as vice president for 2026. Taylor begins her fourth consecutive one-year term as president, while Miller starts his third term as vice president. The board oversees the largest defined-benefit public pension in the United States with approximately $600 billion in total fund market value serving over 2 million members.
CalPERS Hires Shari Slate as Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer
CalPERS announced the hire of Shari Slate as its new Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer. Slate previously served in similar roles at CVS Health and Cisco Systems, where she helped build talent pipelines across the full spectrum of diversity. At CalPERS, she will drive DEI integration across the organization and with suppliers, contractors, and investment partners, reporting directly to CEO Marcie Frost.
